| Meningitis reported by Health Department |
A case of meningococcal disease, or meningitis, has been identified in Barron County, reports the Barron County Department of Health. This disease is caused by the bacteria neisseria meningitidis and is spread only by intimate, direct contact with saliva or respiratory droplets.
